The First Home-grown CFA Charter Holder of Rongzhi College —— Instructor SUN He
SHN He, master of Finance in Sichuan University, CFA charter holder, is a full-time teacher of the School of Finance of our college. Ms. Sun, with the training and help offered by our school, took the CFA Exam (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1, 2 and 3 from 2017 to 2019, passing the exam with excellent marks. She successfully obtained the CFA certificate.
Ms.Sun is the first home-grown CFA charter holder of our school!
In June 2017, SUN He, an instructor from the School of Finance of our college, took the CFA Exam and got a high score of 9A1B. In June 2018, she took the CFA Exam level 2 and got a good score of 7A3B, ranking top 10% in the world. In June 2019, she successfully passed the CFA Exam level 3. In October 2020, she was officially recognized as a CFA charter holder by CFA Institute.
About CFA
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a Chartered Financial Analyst qualification test established by Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) in1963. CFA Certificate is one of the largest professional exams in the world, known as the “first global financial examination”, and is the “gold standard”of major financial institutions around the world to find the best investment talents. As of September 2, 2019, the number of CFA charter holder in China(excluding those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) was 6,135, and there is a total of 167,000 CFA charter holders worldwide.
Learning While Teaching
“It is not easy to pass the CFA exam”, SUN He said frankly, “I was tired and even wanted to give up in the process of preparing for the exam. However, as a teacher, I should discipline myself and set a good example for my students.This kind of responsibility made me hold on to the last minute.”
Preparing for the exam while teaching the course seems impossible, but it is not. Ms. Sun said she seizes the time during class break to do exercises while waiting her students, in an effort to deepen her understanding and mastery of the knowledge needed. In addition, the knowledge and cases she learned while preparing for the exam also greatly enriched her teaching contents, which makes it possible for her to explain the complex knowledge in simple language for her students. Teaching and learning is of mutual benefit as they complement each other.
Ms.Sun attributes part of her success in gaining the CFA certificate to the care and support of the school leaders and the encouragement of her colleagues preparing for the exam together with her. She said, “The school leaders not only reimbursed the exam registration fee, but also reduced the course schedule so that I could concentrate on preparing for the exam. I am very grateful for the support and help of the school leaders.”
Perseverance and Diligence
“In the CFA exam hall, I have seen financial elites in their straight suits, students with immature faces, pregnant women, and the elders who have passed the age of knowing their destiny. It’s just like another window opened for me, through which I saw different people and different scenery. I got to know that there are many excellent people out there who are still working hard, and I understood the need to make persistent efforts.”, said Ms. Sun. After three years of unremitting preparation for the exam, she finally succeeded in obtaining the CFA Certificate. Sun is the best interpretation of the word of perseverance. It is never too late to learn, and her way of learning never stops. She also passed the FRM (Financial Risk Manager) Level 1 exam while preparing for the CFA exam.
Knowing the truth that “achievement is founded on diligence and wasted upon recklessness”, Ms. Sun often encourages her students to study hard, participate in practical activities, equip their minds with knowledge and build their future with ability. She sincerely hopes that every student would be treated gently by life.
Experience in Preparing for the Test: Reading and Doing Exercise
CFA International Project Class, a characteristic class of our school of Finance, aims to cultivate financial professionals with applied, international, compound, innovative and other diversified comprehensive qualities. With an eye to help students actively prepare for the CFA exam, Ms. Sun Shared her personal experience: First, to prepare for the CFA exam, you must make a good preparation plan in advance rather than cram at the eleventh hour. Second, reading is the most basic because it is the key to get familiar with the knowledge and then master it. Third, by doing more exercises, we can find out test-makers’ train of thoughts, test modes and routines. In a word, the best test preparation plan is to read attentively and do exercises like crazy.
