The “Final Contest of 2020 National College Economics Comprehensive Experiment Competition”, sponsored by Game Theory and Experimental Economics Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Quantitative Economics and hosted by Anhui University of Finance and Economics, went on smoothly from 17th to 18th October, 2020. Nearly 1,000 students in 600 teams from 143 universities participated in the competition. MU Xuehong’s team from economics class of 2018 of our school won the national first prize, and A Heershi’s team from finance class of 2017 of our school won the national third prize. The competition was led by LIU Chunlan, a teacher from the teaching and research office of Economics.
Economics Comprehensive Experiment Competition makes use of “Economics Comprehensive Simulation Training Platform V2.2”, simulates the microeconomic subject to perform cash management, raw materials and elements supply, market demand bidding, and production/delivery/technical renovation and macroeconomic policy making, constantly organize competition at each link of the game, and integrate role playing with decisionanalysis in a virtual interactive learning manner, letting the students fully simulate the macroeconomic background, the market competition environment, and the effect of competitors’ decisions on production and operation of an enterprise. This competition is a comprehensive inspection on students’ competence in learning and mastering microeconomics knowledge. The contest, since its first presence, has been taken as an important work by education authorities, colleges and universities around the country.
The 2020 National Comprehensive Experiment Competition of Economics was held online due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the number of participants, participating teams and participating colleges and universities reached a new high. There are 2,855 teams (12 from our school), and 231 universities signed up for the competition this year. After the first round of the competition, a total of 1316 teams (8 from our school) participated in the Regional Competition across China from September 12th to13th, with a total of 1,118 teams (4 from our school) won the first, second and third prize. Among them, a total of 600 teams (2 from our school) from 143 schools entered the national finals.
The two teams entered the national finals got the first prize and third prize. They attribute their success to teachers’ suggestions, solid economics knowledge, rigorous economics thinking, perfect teamwork skills and their calmness. By actively participating in the professional skills competition, students improved their professional quality and realized the “charm of economics”, teachers were encouraged to actively carry out practical teaching, and explore the curriculum teaching reform that transfer from theoretical knowledge to ability training, in an effort to promote the training of applied talents in economics.
