In order to maintain campus harmony and stability and improve the efficiency of resolving campus disputes, the awarding ceremony of the Campus Dispute Mediation Committee of Rongzhi College of Chongqing Technology and Business University was held in the academic lecture hall of our school on December 2, 2020, marking the establishment of Chongqing’ first People’s Mediation Committee for Campus Disputes on Campus. Our school’s Innovation Project “Law Steward” is authorized to run it, and that is the first time in China where entrepreneur team has been authorized to run a People’s Mediation Committee. This initiative is jointly made by the political and legal departments of BA Nan district, Chongqing and our school as well as our school’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project “Law Steward”, in an attempt to explore in the field of services jointly built, run, and benefited by government, higher education institutions, teachers and students all together. This is also a new breakthrough of our school’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project in the field of school-government cooperation.
The Campus Dispute Mediation Committee of Rongzhi College of Chongqing Technology and Business University was approved by the Justice Bureau of BA Nan district, Chongqing. It will function, by getting the profession guidance from the People’s Court of BA Nan district, Chongqing, and the help from the five Lawyer mediators of our school’s “Law Steward” team, to mediate conflicts and disputes over personal and property rights and other rights and interests bewteen teachers, students, parents, teachers and students or parents, teachers/students of our school and other work units, our school and other units and residents around our school. It attempts to disseminate knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and campus safety through mediation, timely check and find the hidden trouble of campus disputes, intervene in advance, take the initiative to resolve conflicts and disputes, assist to deal with emergencies of campus disputes, report campus disputes and mediation work to judicial administration, and education department. The Project “Law Steward” use “big data + law” as the core technology to provide early warning of risk prevention , legal treatment and campus public opinion disposal services to higher education institutions. It has won many national awards in College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneur Competitions like “Challenge Cup” and “Internet +”, and that is the highest achievements made by Chongqing’s contestants of Innovation and Entrepreneur projects. This offers a professional support for the effective running of the Campus Dispute Mediation Committee of our school.
On the scene of the awarding ceremony, ZHOU Chengqing, deputy secretary of Political and Legal Committee of BA Nan district, Chongqing, and YUAN Xianqiang, deputy director of Justice Bureau of BA Nan district, Chongqing, conferred the award to the Campus Dispute Mediation Committee of our school. CHEN Longguo, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Rongzhi College of Chongqing Technology and Business University, and MO Zixiao, founder of the “Law Steward” project, received the award.
Then, LIU Xiurong, vice president of BA Nan district Court, gave a lecture on “one-stop litigation mediation and docking of campus disputes”, and explained in detail the method of using campus dispute mediation committee to safeguard rights. She pointed out the importance of using legal means to properly handle civil disputes in study and life. Ba Nan court judges will synchronize guidance on WeChat to mediators in their work to mediate disputes and conflicts, providing the convenience for teachers and students to finish the procedures of judicial confirmation and electronic signature online and get the Judicial confirmation decision in writing with a fresh seal of the People’s Court of BA Nan district, Chongqing within 20 minutes.
That the Project “Law Steward” is authorized to run People’s Mediation Committee for Campus Disputes on Campus is a breakthrough in our schools’ school-government cooperation in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship education, which is so far the highest achievement of our school’s entrepreneurship and innovation project. It has created a model for our school’s cross-major comprehensive entrepreneurship training platform and provided new ideas and references for the selection and incubation of innovation and entrepreneurship projects of our school’s economics and management majors. Hopefully the “Law Steward” will make persistent efforts under the guidance of the school and achieve better results in the future.
