The Second “International Volunteer Day” Series Activities Carried Out by the Volunteers of Our School

 

The 35thinternational volunteer day falls on December 5. More than 2000 volunteers of our school took part in the Second “International Volunteer Day” Series Activities organized by the Youth League Committee of our school, in an effort to further young college students’ socialist core values education, vigorously carry forward the volunteer service spirit (“dedication, love, mutual aid and progress”), guide and encourage more young students to participate in volunteer service.

 

 

On November 30th, volunteers of our school actively called on Rongzhi community to take an active part in the one-week “Eat up the Food on Your Plate” activity organized by the Youth Association of our school, in an effort to guide the students and faculty to form a good habit of saving food and consuming reasonably.

On December 2nd, the “Happy Running on Campus at Night” activity was jointly organized by the Youth Association and Self-discipline Committee of our school, with more than 2000 students replacing their screen time in dorm with running time on the playground. This activity not only enhanced the students’ physical fitness and released their study pressure, but also advocated the positive sports spirit and transmitted the positive energy in winter.

In early December, an activity for the left-behind children, “Heartfelt Words, Warmhearted Gifts”, was organized by the Youth Association of our school. The volunteers of our school first contacted the 306 children in YU Jia Village of QI Jiang District, Chongqing and noted down their wishes, and send these children the more than 600 gifts prepared by the teachers and students of our school on December 4th.

On December 1st and 5th, the Youth Association of our school organized more than 50 volunteers to carry out the “Volunteer Serving the Community” activity. The volunteers went to LONG De community and JIANG Zhou Road community in LONG Zhou Bay Street respectively, preaching garbage knowledge and handwork, and offering pupils afterschool-care and other services.

The “International Volunteer Day” aroused the enthusiasm of our students to actively participate in volunteer service activities, and fully demonstrated the noble spirit of our volunteers and their sense of social responsibility. The volunteers said that as young college students in the new era, they should be firm in their ideals and beliefs, be active in their practice of the volunteer service spirit of “dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress”, in an effort to spread the story of Lei Feng in the new era, and contribute their youthful strength to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
